Whilst the goats are quite at home on the scree slopes humans are not. The increasing numbers of tourists scrambling along the summit of Rugged Jack probably are unaware of the disturbance they create and the damage to the scree slopes. In a future conservation plan of the whole Valley we would prefer to have restricted access to Rugged Jack and channel the visitors to Castle Rock.  It would also help the elderly and less able to have an even path connection between the car park and the coastal path along North Walk . Some new modern interpretive information boards could also be added.  This could be achieved by buffer planting of gorse and sloe/blackthorn at the base of the scree and at the access point at the summit of the connecting path to North Walk from Poet’s Corner.
