It is encouraging to note that the Town Council, under
whose stewardship the Valley of Rocks falls, has decided to modify the Light Quest project. The proposal is
now to hold the event outside of the wildlife breeding season. In the future it is hoped that they will first
respect their responsibility to the Valley of Rocks before going head over heals for an event planned in the critical
wildlife breeding season.
Whilst it would be preferred that visitors enjoy the
natural beauty of the Valley FoG has no objections to the present proposal to illuminate major historical landmarks in
the Town with a walk along the public road to the roundabout and back. The group has consistently thought that the twin
towns should be the centre of the activity. Reducing the tourist impact in the Valley of Rocks is an acceptable
compromise for all concerned with conservation and tourism.
